Core foam has been used for 50 years in shipbuilding applications for obtaining a lighter hull shape.
But, what exactly is core foam? This is a light material used to closely adhere two surfaces for creating a bridge structure.

Eulithe® is a core foam mainly used for the manufacture of sandwich materials.
A sandwich consists of two rigid sheets, which are precisely separated by a foamed "core material".
Sheets resist flexion and provide the structure with a strong main construction.
The light Eulithe® absorbs cutting forces and distributes them on a wider area.

Engineering techniques teach that resistance to flexion is proportional to the cube of the material thickness.
A composite core has the objective of increasing the sandwich resistance by increasing the thickness with a very light core.

In fact, it drastically increases rigidity with a very low increase in weight. If compared to a single block or a metal structure, the sandwich concept reduces the weight and increaseses rigidity, maintaining resistance. So that the sandwich works perfectly, adhesion between the Eulithe® core and the surface sheets has to be perfect for transferring loads and stresses throughout the whole structure.
Once the sandwich theory is applied to the Eulithe® as core, the possible sectors of use can be many.
