All types of Eulithe®, in panels or entire blocks, can be easily machined with standard wooden and marble tools for the purpose of obtaining objects with the required dimensions and shapes. In particular, the Eulithe® panels show easy adherence to surfaces by following the procedures specified below.
Adhering Eulithe® to the different materials is a very easy operations that can be performed according to varying techniques and adhesives. This aspect enhances the use of Eulithe® as core material.
Type of recommended adhesives:
- 2-fluid-component polyurethane adhesives
- 2-fluid-component epoxy adhesives in the form of mastic or liquid
- monocomponent polyurethane adhesive foams
- holt melt polyurethane (thermalfuse)
- two- component acrylic adhesives
- cyanoacrilic adhesives
Application Techniques:
Mastic-like epoxy adhesives can be preferably used for adhering coarse surfaces (marble, quartz, etc.) to Eulithe® flat surfaces. After mixing the two epoxy resin components in the default ratio determined by the manufacturer at the factory, a very thin layer is applied on one of the two surfaces to adhere with a proper tool (smooth and toothed).
The two panels are adhered by applying pressure for about 2 hours (the length depends much on the environmental temperature). After such period, the sandwich thus obtained can be handled.
For further processing, it is better to wait another 12 hours (Note: pressure can be obtained by a press or some stone slabs on the parts to be adhered).
For liquid two- component epoxy adhesives, two- component polyurethane adhesives and two- component acrylic adhesives it is possible to use the same procedure as above. They can be sprayed or deposited by a roller on the surfaces, using proper machines instead of a knife tool.
The use of Thermofuse adhesives is preferable for adhering Eulithe® to thin surfaces such as aluminium, steel, HPL, PVC, wood, etc.
This technology requiresd the use of specific systems such as those used for wood veneering.
Techniques described in the previous points are used for adhering entire Eulithe® panels and the manufactured article obtained in this manner is worked as a composite material.
There is a particular case when Eulithe® can be used as reinforcing material for stone surfaces (quartz agglomerates) in the form of strips having different widths.
In this process, the object is prepared with the stone material (for instance, a kitchen top with edges and holes already made), thus the Eulithe® strips are adhered with cyanoacrilic adhesives in the form of grid.
A specific catalyst is sprayed on the stone surface, whilst the adhesive is applied on the Eulithe® strips. At this point, the strip is positioned on the surface and kept under pressure with the hands for a few seconds only: the adhesion is quick and Eulithe® has now created a unique body with the stone surface (see Picture).
Please note that all adhesive makers offer detailed instructions on the use of their products.
